Dhahiat Sumou
A PPP is created to develope the Dhahiat Sumou Project in Makkah. Delivering 100% of the infrastructure and 40% of the superstructure for the project.
Sumou Holding Company has partnered with Bawabat Makkah – the investment arm of the Makkah Municipality – in a private-public partnership (PPP) model to establish Dhahiat Sumou. The company, formally established in 2011, is a limited liability concern where Sumou Holding Company owns a 75% stake and Bawabat Makkah contributes the remaining 25%. Dhahiat Sumou has been created to develop the Dhahiat Sumou project – a 1.6 square kilometre residential, retail and commercial master planned development that lies at the heart of the Bawabat Makkah satellite city and sets a new benchmark for the rest of the development. Sprawled over 87 kilometres, the visionary Bawabat Makkah project builds a new master planned city on the western edge of Makkah’s holy region. Two-thirds of the project falls within the Haram boundary, and will house an estimated 690,000 people once completed. Dhahiat Sumou has been tasked with delivering 100% of the infrastructure for the Dhahiat Sumou project, and also building 40% of the superstructure. The remaining 60% of the superstructure will be developed through subcontractors, with Dhahiat Sumou assuming overall managerial responsibility. Dhahiat Sumou’s role in the project is expected to successfully conclude by 2020.
