Under the auspices and in presence of the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, HE Prince Dr. Mansour bin Meteb bin Abdul Aziz, Makkah Gate Company, owned to Al Balad Al Ameen Company and Sumou Company, have signed an agreement whereby Sumou shall develop, and participate in, the first phase of Makkah Gate Project on an area of 1.5 million square meters in the western entrance of the Holy Capital on Jeddah-Mecca Highway. Dr. Mansour bin Meteb noted that the development companies of the secretariats have assets and investments in cooperation with private sector. He added that Makkah Gate is considered the earliest project for development of the area which is considered a qualitative leap in the relation public and private sector.
Dr. Usama bin Fadhl Al Bar, Secretary of the Holy Capital, signed on behalf of Makkah Gate Company, Dr. Ayed bin Farhan Al Qahtani, Chairman signed on behalf of Sumou. The two companies have previously signed MoU that expresses the effective public and private partnership concerning the sponsorship HRH Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah which stated that there shall be a period of time of no more than 90 days for development of detailed agreements of said MoU, and added that “Makkah Gate” Project is one of the main projects that were studied for a long period of time ago. HRH Prince Khaled noted that the project is a remarkable and one of the most leasing projects sponsored by HH the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to develop and implement remarkable development projects, in accordance with the recommendations of the strategic development plan of Makkah.
Chairman of Sumou, Dr. Ayed bin Farhan Al Qahtani, said that the project is deemed as fruitful outcomes from the instructions of HH the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, who advocates public and private cooperation for implementation of developmental projects in KSA, being one of the most leading and key projects at the Holy Capital gaining a personal and direct care and attention of HRH Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah. Dr. Al Qahtani added that the project will make available several housing and accommodation spaces and residential units to reduce and meet the increasing needs for housing and control crowdedness close to the Holy Mosque. In addition, the project is reorganization and restructure of the central province through the expected gradual removal from the slums of Makkah. Dr. Al Qahtani also noted that the purpose of the project is to establish an integrated city that covers all current and future needs of residents and visitors of Makkah at affordable rates to cover present and future needs.
